This is a broad definition of House Music. Just as Art has many facets and features so does House music. There are many styles ranging from Deep House, Hard House, Garage House, Vocal House, Jazz House etc. . .

The common thread they share would be the uptempo rhythm and the positive uplifting lyrics.

House music is strongly influenced by some elements of the 1970s music like soul, funk and especially disco. House music which was born in the 80's takes disco's use of a prominent bass drum on every beat and made it new by adding electronic elements such as synthesizer, electronic baselines and drums, electronic effects, samples, and vocal effects.

House music was born in Chicago and more than 20 years later has now gone global. We have the Internet to thank for that. The Internet has made house music more accessible to that many more people. House music has traveled the world and allowed each culture to add their own flavors to the mix. The secret to it's longevity has been it's ability to change and adapt to new environment.
