Spread Love

Acid House Music

Hello houseJUNkies, today I've got acid on the brain.
I can't get this tune out of my head so why not embrace it?

Acid was born in Chicago during the 80's. The music features the specific sounds of an electronic synthesizer-sequencer. It's a fun and futuristic sound. Acid would morph into Rave during the 90's after spreading internationally during the 80's.

I've got an acid playlist floating around this blog but here's a few off the top of my head for you to mess around with.

acid in the 80's
Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray
Lords of Acid
Brickhouse - Get Down mix
maurice -this is acid
Tyree - It Takes A Thief

Can you see any traces of acid house in todays music?
Well love, have a good time playing.
Peace out.

Poetry in House Music

Happy day househeadz,

You know poetry has a special place in my heart.
I am poetry. I live poetry.
I ingest poetry to feed my soul.
I write poetry to soothe my soul.
I am poetry.

This morning I'm thinking of this Classic House joint from 1990 by Bobby Konders titled The Poem, featuring Jamaican poet Mutabaruka.

Enjoy. Peace & Love.

Tech, booty, funky, electro, ragga, vocal, if it’s got a bangin’ beat and bass to fill a warehouse…. His love began w/early 90's east coast raves and is now spinning in the MA area.

wutup houseHEadz?

Today I've got a spanking brand new collabo by dj/producers, Sted-E & Hybrid Heights. They are native NewYorkers but I have to say their sound is very Miami House style: progressive, no vocals, upswells and crunchy beats with a trancy feel to them.

I know these jointz are going to be big smash hits getting heavy rotation in the SoFLo scene.

Now press play & let me cya dance.

New Mix of a classic fun Joint ~

Happy Wednesday sugaRLips,

It's wet & swampy in SoFlo with bits of blue sky in between; pretty much the norm for September.

I've got a great spankin brand new remix for you to enjoy today. NAPT has a new version of pump up the jam, by technotronic from 1989, featuring Louise Marshall.

enjoy. let's make it a good day. ;)

Joan Mael Peneau, aka DJ Maelstrom has redefined the Funky and Party Breaks genre, with a unique sound that harmonizes the ever-popular Electro genre with Funky Breaks.

Maelstrom began his career playing and producing Electro in the mid 90’s, drawing influence from the works of Mo’Wax Recordings. It was in the period proceeding this, from 1998 through to 2005, that Maelstrom struck somewhat of a mid-career identity crisis, dabbling in a variety of genres and releasing more than 20 EPs in various styles including Techno, Drum n Bass, Hardcore and Down Tempo Funk under several aliases.

In 2005, Maelstrom realized his calling, finding new direction in a genre that was virtually unknown in his home country, France, at the time – Nu Skool Breaks. The open format of Breakbeat allowed him to synthesize all of the styles and sounds of which he has previously produced, played and loved throughout his career.
